I have an almost 14 month young female lab/retriever mix. We had to leave her “Alone” (we have another, 13 year old female dog who never chewed up anything but a sock and 1 shoe!). I had my assistant coming after being away for 4 hrs, to walk her. I had confined my youngster into the kitchen, so she couldn’t get into any kids toys and such.

Why is my lab puppy digging in her bed. My 10 week old Lab puppy who we got at 7 weeks old will not stop biting my older dog in the jowls and on the legs, my poor boxer is such a sweet guy he doesn’t want to hurt the puppy so he doesn’t stick up for himself enough.. He jumps over the bed and is all over it. If I try to put him down, he bites me very badly. He refuses to listen. If your puppy has been digging holes in the flower bed every time your back is turned, or getting stuck in every time you try and plant something in the flower bed, you are probably wondering how to stop him. To stop a dog from digging effectively, it’s important to understand why they are digging holes. But, why the bed specifically? Part of the reason is that the bed is soft and squishy like a prey animal would be. If you watch your dog chewing his bed, you may be able to see the resemblance. Dogs who chew their beds often hold the bed down with their front feet and bite down, then pull upward with the neck to tear the bed apart. Digging in Her Bed in Dogs What is Digging in Her Bed? Also called denning, your dog’s digging in her bed is due to natural instinct, rather than her misbehaving. When living in the wild, the instinct of a dog is to hide in areas that are comfortable and protected when they are going to sleep.

Also called denning, your dog's digging in her bed is due to natural instinct, rather than her misbehaving. When living in the wild, the instinct of a dog is to hide in areas that are comfortable and protected when they are going to sleep. Why is my puppy digging holes? Digging is totally normal for puppies, and with minimal effort from you, they will probably stop digging as they approach their second birthday. Your adult dog developed the digging habit as a puppy. Remember that curious Labrador pup scratching in your flower beds? As a puppy, they started digging because they were curious. My puppy does this when she's tired and trying to find a comfortable spot on her pillow/bed. Thankfully she hasn't ripped either up yet! :D. We noticed that sometimes she would go into this wild frenzy in her crate digging away at her bed, with her head on the bed, and forepaws digging away furiously. It was the most hilarious sight!! my 3 month lab female puppy is chasing my son to bite sometimes in a day and rest of the time she behaves loveable towards him,how to stop her from chasing my son to bite.we tried to divert her concentration but when she looks at my son she try to bite him. My 7 month old yellow lab will not tolerate a leash, I have tried to leave leash on her but she chews it & will not walk on leash either will jump up & try to grab leash. Do you have any suggestions on how to train her to her leash. I would love to be able to walk her. This is my third lab and the first one I have not been able to use a leash . Certain dogs, however, may dig in the carpet when they are excited or anxious. This can be a displacement behavior, meaning that when your dog cannot perform a behavior he wants to do, he instead performs another. An example of this would be when a dog sees a squirrel sitting on a branch, he may bark and dig at the base of the tree. As with humans, urinary tract infections are common in dogs. It happens when bacteria invades the urinary tract and causes symptoms like painful urination, blood in the urine, and decreased bladder control. A UTI is often the reason a dog pees the bed. A dog suffering with a UTI doesn’t “forget” their house training like their owner thinks. Hi liz”.my name is Roy and i also have a lab. Her name is Ayla and she just turn 2. She loves chasing squirrels, geese, ducks ,anything related to exercise.. and especially a Lab puppy will be very demanding of your time, yes.. he has been very receptive to crate but all of the sudden cries at night.. i have been taking him on walks.

First off it is NOT a problem and I DON'T want her to stop I'm just asking if anyone has ideas on why she does it. My dog will go into my room get into my bed and dig like crazy!! She messes up my bed to the point that I have to remake it. She digs other places too but my bed is the worst. She even jumps up in the air while digging. Finally, digging is usually a normal part of dogs being dogs. But occasionally digging in their bed can become an abnormal behavior. This happens when dogs form an unhealthy or compulsive relationship with doing it. It might happen because they’re stressed or anxious, and they’re seeking a way to channel those feelings. Reasons Why a Puppy Is Itchy . When there is some sort of irritation to the skin the urge to itch or scratch soon follows. At a cellular level inside the body, histamine release is the main reason why a puppy itches but sometimes simply the annoyance of a reoccurring insect bite can also cause a puppy to scratch itself. Where sleep is concerned, digging into bed can be habitual and instinctive, or related to temperature. In nature, digging at beds serves as a method of extreme temperature control. Because dogs...
